Our Roots
Roots in recovery is a program of accountability designed to help men in recovery to develop a strong foundation and transition back to independent living. Roots opened their doors in 2008 with the mission to provide addicts and alcoholics a safe and affordable place to live in early recovery.
Program Rules
Drug and Alcohol Tests
Each resident will be randomly drug tested and breathalyzed. The cost of these tests are included in the weekly program fees. Roots has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for drug and/or alcohol use. Using any type of intoxicant, legal, illegal, designer, or otherwise is NOT allowed and will result in immediate discharge from the program.
12 Step Meetings
Each resident must attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Then five meetings per week after that time period for the duration of their stay in the program. Residents must obtain a sponsor, home group, service commitment and work the steps.
Work, Volunteer, or School
Residents are required to work, volunteer, or attend school at least 20 hours per week.
Chores
Each resident is responsible for keeping his personal space clean and organized. Residents must make their ned every morning, and do their own dishes and laundry. The house has shared chores such as taking out the trash and mopping and cleaning the kitchen. These chores rotate person to person on a weekly basis.
Accountability
Roots has a live-in house manager and assistant house manager. These members of staff assist in the day to day accountability of the residents. They are senior residents that have demonstrated a commitment to their personal recovery and are sincere about helping the newer residents. Each resident MUST attend the weekly accountability meeting held every Sunday at 5:30 PM where they check in on meetings, steps, work, and concerns for the house or other residents.
Curfew
Residents must be in the house by 11:30 PM on weekdays (Sun-Thurs) and 12:00 AM on weekends (Fri-Sat) for the first 30 days. After 30 days residents must be in the house by 11:30 PM on weekdays and 1:00 AM on weekends. Residents can not leave before 5 AM, 7 days a week.
